Pic 13: This picture is just prior to the body-off and you can see the state of the original dampers etc, what a mess. Pic 14: Serious progress now, hearing the car run for the first time with it's new engine etc was great, even if it was still on axle stands.
Pic15: It took 4 of us 3 days to complete the build after the body had gone back on, it was amazing the amount of progress that was made and how fast things came along at this point. Pic16: Tasmin Challenge series co-ordinator Steve Lewis even came along and mucked in, although he did stick pretty much to putting stickers on it.
Pic17: Almost there, come on boys get it on the floor so I can sit in it :-) Pic18: The Moore Racing patented Tasmin Fuel System, take 1 passenger side footwell, case in alloy sheet, add 1 race spec bag tank, 1 custom made swirl pot and 2 very expensive red top fuel pumps. Oh yeah, and about £90s worth of fittings and pipes and hey presto - a working fuel system. The reason for this is two fold, 1 for safety, the tank in this position is inside the roll-cage, where as the old tanks were not, and 2 for cost, as the original system needed replacing anyway, and this method was a damn site cheaper.
Pic19: Impressive isnt it! Note the carbon fibre boxing around the radiator, this is the cheapest and most effective mod on the car, reducing the engine operating temperature during a race by nearly 10 degrees.
Pic 21/22/23: I must admit it did look great when we rolled it out at TMS, just a shame the paint work isnt quite so pretty after a season of knocks and bashes. Pic 24: My first race, Brands Hatch, all I can really remember about the race was thinking please no, not paddock hill bend again every time I crossed the start finish line, what a corner......
Pic 25/27: My second race and my first crash, but what a track, every fancied driving yourself around a roller coaster this is the circuit in my opinion. Well with my first season is completed and I am itching to get into the next one, the car is back in bits again down at Moore Racing for it's winter rebuild and more go-faster modifications. Myself I have been down at Silverstone taking lessons on how to drive like a complete loon at ridiculous speeds in single seaters as part of my preparation for next year. By way, thanks to all who have helped me over the year including:-The wife and kids, for all the help and patience. Dominic Porter, for getting me drunk, and holding the pitboard / kicking the tyres / pouring in the go-juice etc. Richard Moore, for his excellent and continued support. Moore Racing, for all the late nights. Steve Lewis, for getting me involved and keeping it going, also for putting together a great series. All the other drivers and teams, just for how much fun we all have out there on the track. Steve Beck, for all his assistance getting round the hairpin at Mallory Park :-) Here's to next year, with 25 Tasmins in the series for next year it should be a great season - See you all there.
