Renovo Plastic Window Polish Renovo International I have recently been sent a batch of products to try out. One of these being the Renovo Plastic Window Polish. Renovo International is based in Haywards Heath, in Sussex, the company is owned by fellow car enthusiast Patrick Coghlan. The company have developed a range of six car care products including Soft Top Canvas Cleaner, Ultra Proofer, Soft Top Reviver, Vinyl Soft Top Cleaner and Vinyl Ultra Proofer. This product the Plastic
Window Polish comes in various sizes but has recently been introduced
in a handy 30ml size, which (at the time of review) retails at around
£4.99. My rear window to
my mind was quite clean and blemish free, but tends to become covered
in dust, dirt and exhaust residue (inside and out!) as the summer of TVR
motoring continues. I have seen some Wedge rear windows that are almost
opaque and scratched or discoloured quite badly. Apart from the look of
the plastic window, you don't really notice until you try and reverse
looking out of the rear window with a low sun and find that you literally
cannot see anything out of the back!. This product claims
to clean and polish out the microscopic scratches that form when the hood
is continuously folded with use which apparently causing the cloudiness. My rear window looks
like it had been replaced prior to me having the car, it is definitely
not original but it has already started to 'cloud' over a little. I got
my window as clean as I could then decided to try the product. I followed the instructions that came with the bottle, applied a small amount of the cream to my cloth then rubbed it into the window, making sure to keep it away from the canvas surround. Applying the product is easy, just pour a small quantity onto a clean soft cotton cloth and rub it in, then rub it off. Best results are achieved when the polish is added frequently to the cloth in small quantities as you go along and not one big splodge at the start (I tried that as well!).
After a minute or
so of rubbing the product into the window a clear spot became visible
on what I thought was already clean plastic!. Have a look at the picture
of the window above right, it is difficult to make out in the picture
(taken in strong sunlight) but to my mind the product really made a difference. I carried on inside
and out and after my labours the window polish did make the window clear
and easier to see out of - exactly as it said on the bottle!. I thought
my window was not all that bad to start with but I can only speculate
as to what it would do to a neglected or badly discoloured Wedge rear
window. If you are thinking
of having your plastic window replaced, or simply want to reduce the cloudiness
and improve visibility then give this product a go. I have been told that
you can also use this liquid on your plastic garden furniture as well,
so after you have cleaned your Wedge's rear window at least you can have
a sit down on a clean patio chair to admire your handy work!. For
more information have a look at the Renovo website www.renovointernational.com At the time of review (May 2004), the products were the following prices: Renovo Plastic Window Polish 100 ml size £14.95 and the smaller 30 ml size £4.99. |
