It's Big and it's Back!! - BBWF 2005 - This article updated 08/07/05

As you may or not know, the Big Bad Wedge Fest this year was a fantastic success with over 127 Wedge cars attending plus a number of other TVR's. You can read the main article on the Wedgepages site by clicking HERE.

TVRcarparts.com and Mark Adams both donated some expensive prizes for the main Cystic Fibrosis Trust charity raffle that was run by Jeff Morgan and his wife Linda. TVRcarparts.com donated a performance programmable ECU chip and Mark Adams donated the rolling road and his time to setup the chip up in the winners TVR.

Many other TVR traders and TVR associates donated some brilliant prizes for the other FREE raffles held during the evening including prizes supplied by Steve Heath Publications, Shineynuts, Toolsnstuff, TVRCC, Absolutely Shocks, ACT Performance Products, The Polishing Company, Pistonheads.com, Toyo tyres, Tower View Race Services, London Carriage Craft, Surrey Rolling Roads etc.

Jeff and Linda worked really hard all day selling tickets to the BBWF crowd for their special C.F.T. raffle. The main draw was held during the BBQ in the evening and a Mr. Alan Morris was declared the winner. Alan was contacted by telephone as he had left for home earlier that evening.

The grand total raised at the BBWF by selling raffle tickets and through donations made throughout the day came to £440!

The money was handed over on the 11th August to Carolyn Holt (pictured above with Jeff) who is the regional fund manager for Wales for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust by Jeff Morgan at his house in South Wales.

I would like to thank not only everyone who purchased a raffle ticket, supported the fund raiser or donated to the good cause but also to TVRcarparts.com and Mark Adams for donating the grand prizes.

Well done Jeff and Linda.

The same venue as last year has been selected (Ettington Chase in Warwickshire) which last year proved to be an excellent site with a good sized car park set in pleasant surroundings with very nice accomodation. The hotel also features a sauna, gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi and even a 3 hole mini golf course! A link to the hotel website which includes a 'virtual tour' of the facilities is available by following this link:-

TVRcarParts.com goes live - 29/03/05

New online service acquires rights to Wedge and S parts. It's a new name on the block but one that we will probably hear a lot more about.

TVRcarparts.com has recently acquired all the parts previously held by TVR for the S Series and Wedge cars. As well as the physical parts which they've acquired, they have also obtained jigs, moulds and technical information allowing new parts to be made in future, commencing in the summer.

The company will be officially launched on April 4th 2005. Up until then work continues on cataloging and stock taking. Behind the company are some TVR fanatics with many years experience of working with the marque.

On launch date a comprehensive website will be made available with all the facilities required to search, price and order parts for all models of TVR.

For more information contact TVRcarParts.com on 01884 266755 (www.tvrcarparts.com from April 4th).

On a personal note, I have already used the company to obtain several engine bits for my 450SE and can recommend them thoroughly. Not only were they very knowledgeable and courteous on the phone but they seemed genuinely interested in providing me with the correct parts - which also duly turned up on my doorstep when they said they would - which makes a change to some other parts suppliers I have dealt with in the past...

Good luck with the new venture guys.

Mid Wales Wedge Blat - 30/01/05

It was suggested on the Wedge forum sometime before Christmas that it would be a good idea to blow the lay-up cobwebs away and organise a Wedge blast around mid Wales.

After some trepidation about the weather the run out was organised for Sunday the 30th January. In the end, six Wedge cars managed to make the run out. Jeff Morgan in his red 400SE, Simon & Lynne in his blue 350i, Steve in his white 400SE, Richard and Sam in their red SEAC, Wyn in his new 350i (my old steed) and me and my boy Greg in our newly fettled 450SE.

For me it was more of a shakedown run to see if anything would fall off after the extensive fettling and tinkering over the winter months. I did not have to wait long before things started to play up. After a lengthy fast run down some particularly twisty roads the brake pedal went straight to the floor and I did not have any brakes! I managed to pull in only to be greeted by a burning smell from the back brakes.

Freezing

It turned out that one of the brake pads had started to bind causing the whole lot to overheat and boil the brakes. I had also lost a very small amount of fluid, which indicated a leak someplace along one of the lines. Just a good job that we had reached our first destination for a spot of pub grub. It was also a good opportunity to let the brakes cool down.

The pub in question being the Llanerch Inn in Llandrindod Wells. The food was not only very reasonably priced but I can honestly say that the Chicken dinner some of us had comprised of one of the biggest birds that I have ever seen. If you are in the area then I can recommend that you check the place out.

Our route took us from Merthyr Tydfil on through the Brecon Beacons all the way up through Garth, Beuleh, Newbridge on Wye then onto Llandrindod Wells. On the way up we had a stop off at the Drum Ddu mountain view to take in some of the fantastic Welsh mountain views.

The weather turned out to be bitterly cold complete with a wind chill factor of what felt like –30. Suffice to stay we did not stay long. After our lunch in Llandrindod we had a blast back through Builth, Bronllys, Talgarth past Llangorse Lake then onto the Heads of the Valleys road where everybody split up to make their own way back home again.

The day for me was great and it felt good to be out in a TVR again (roof off of course) after months of being off the road. We will have to arrange another blast out in a month or two and make it a regular event.

Happy New Year- 01/01/05

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everybody a happy new year from the TVRwedgepages website.

In retrospect I personally felt that 2004 was a good year for TVR Wedge cars and I was encouraged to see quite a few good articles in the various club and motoring press magazines, it all goes to show that the Wedge owning community are certainly one of the more active of the owners groups around.

The highlight for me however must have been the Big Bad Wedge Fest (BBWF) 2004 meeting, I have noticed that posts have already started on the forum pages for the 2005 event so let's hope that it will be even bigger and better this year. If you missed the 2004 event then I must encourage you to attend this years meeting - if it is only half as good as last years then I can guarantee you will have a great time. As more details of the event present themselves I will post the information on this site, so keep checking in.

As for me, some of you may have heard that I have sold my beloved 350i to a genuine enthusiast Wyn who I am sure will be attending the Wedge meets this year. In it's place I have purchased one of my all time dream cars a TVR 450SE. The car does need a lot of work to bring it up to scratch so hopefully I will be bringing you many more articles of it's progress.

On another note, If you are planning some work on your car or have something that you might think other Wedge owners or enthusiasts might be interested in then please send it over and I will do my best to put it online. I can accept digital pics and text via e-mail (or CD) or if you prefer you can send me good old photographs and the words scribbled on a piece of paper, my new address is posted under the Contact Page.

Remember it's you who make this site what it is.
