| 350i
The 350i developed
out of the Tasmin range and was made from 1983 until 1985. The normally
aspirated Ford V6 had little development potential so the Rover V8 was
employed in its place. The V8 in fact weighs a similar amount to the Ford
V6. The chassis was modified slightly to accomodate the larger engine.
Together with changes made to the steering, the car now handled much better.

In V8 form this car
provided the essence of what TVR motoring is all about today. This is
a loud, quick, wind-in-the-hair (in convertible form!), head-turner of
a car. Producing 190 bhp, performance improved dramatically, with the
0 to 60 mph dash completed in a spritely six seconds, knocking two seconds
off the time of the 280. And more importantly, it had that V8 burble!

The Tasmin name was
dropped and the model became known purely as the '350i'. (Some of the
earliest 350's do have Tasmin decals however). Series I 350's were made
until 1985 when the series II appeared with different suspension and a
modified bodyshell.
